applique onesies

Had enough of applique onesies? NEVER! Loved making these for my friend's baby shower :)

Ingredients:
- blank onesies
- fabric (for the tie & vest/suspenders)
- heat n bond
- scissors
- iron
- sewing machine + coordinating thread

First things first, wash and dry your fabric + onesies. Next, make some patterns. For mine I used paper; it took me a few tries to get the right sizes. I cut them out and tried them on the onesies.

Lay your patterns on the heat n bond to determine how much you'll need. Follow the directions and bond to the fabric. Trace your patterns on the back and cut them out. Iron them in place where desired.

Stitch around close to the edge of the tie and vest/suspenders. You can use a zig zag stitch if you want. I used a straight stitch (which I though was easier, because I still consider myself a beginner). Optional- add a few buttons to the vest.

Easy peasy! Let me know if you have any ?'s

{butterfly} note cards

I fell in love with these little {note cards} the moment I first saw them. Clean and Simple. Lucky for me, I have oodles of butterflies already punched out (thanks kids) so I was ready to sew them on that same afternoon....

Supplies you will need:
Patterned paper
Plain card stock for your "card"
Paper punches
Sewing machine, thread & scissors

Step 1. Go to town with your punches.... or give your kids something to do. It will keep them busy for awhile, punching and then picking up the shapes :)

Step 2. Cut plain card stock in to strips (3" x 6")

Step 3. Score down the middle for easy folding.

Step 4. Layer 3 of the butterflies in the middle of the "front side" of the card.

Step 5. Make sure your card is OPEN.... Sew straight down the center of the butterflies. I stitched about a 1/2" before and after the butterflies. I did not back stitch.

Step 6. Trim the threads and fold the butterflies in half... helping them fan out a bit away from the card.

Visit Little Birdie Secrets for more photos and their tutorial.

SO CUTE! We have already used a bunch for birthday cards.
Now I need to make more~

Diaper Cupcakes

Diaper Cupcakes + Wrapped Onesies

I'm always looking for cute baby shower gift ideas.. Snagged this idea at a craft show last summer. The fun part is you can use anything you want!

Diaper Cupcake Tutorial:
What I used
- newborn diapers (my sister also used socks for variety)
- ribbon
- paper baking cups
- clear elastics
- wash cloths
- confetti strips
- hot glue

1.  Fold diaper long ways and roll up into cupcake shape. Secure with an elastic (little girl hair elastics worked well).
2.  Then grab your folded wash cloth and wrap around cupcake bottom. Secure that with ribbon and a dot of hot glue.
3.  Tie some ribbon for the cupcake topper.
4.  Put confetti strips in baking cup and place finished cupcake on top.

Wrapped Onesie Tutorial:
What I used
- onesies (again you could use burp cloths, blankets, etc)
- ribbon
- elastics
- cellophane

Pretty much the same as above. Fold long ways and roll up! Secure with elastic. Wrap in cellophane and tie sides with ribbon. Cute, cute!!

I found some cute pink bakers boxes at a cupcake store to put them all in.

Amber- You can post your pics too!

Switchable Rosette Headbands

Headbands are the best; and when you make them yourself, they're even better! First- start out with a plain headband; metal or plastic (whatever works for you and is comfortable). I scored these metal ones here. Hot glue some velcro+felt (same size as the velcro on the backside). You might want a mirror handy to make sure you attach the velcro where you want it.

Second- make your rosettes (or whatever embellishment you want). Click here for the super easy tutorial. The thing I love about these is that they don't have to be perfect ;) For these I used hot glue, but fabric glue also works very well.

Then attach the fuzzy side of the velcro to your flowers.
 There you have it!

You can make others to change out. For these I just glued one flower slightly on top of the other one.

Here's another example of what you can do. The possibilities are endless!! Have fun :]

Amber and I made some of these while I was visiting her.. She will have to post some pics of her variation.. hint hint ;)

personal {gift tags}

I know it's WAY too early to be thinking about Christmas.. or is it? Here are some gift tag ideas that you can use for gifts any time of the year. If you have 2 names in your family that start with the same letter, you could just use different colors.

Found the gift tag templates here.

cute as a {button}

These cute earrings were one of the easiest craft projects I've ever done. I got the idea from a cute boutique in Seattle.. I was this close to buying a pair for $5 and I thought, "I can totally make these!" And so can YOU!

First- You'll need some earring post pads found at your local craft store. I found these at Michael's (PS- they're ok for sensitive ears). Also grab backs too.. I personally prefer the clear ones.

Second- Find some cute buttons in the color you want. These came in a package of 75 I believe (Lot's of earrings!!) My sister, Amber, had a pair of button earrings in the 80's.. I think that's why I bought neon colors to recreate them :P

Third- Place a dot of hot glue on the post pad and add your button! Easy as pie! Just be careful not to burn yourself. You can give these bad boys as a present, put them on your adorable little girl or keep them for yourself ;]
